The Sea is Rising
Bronze sculpture -
Exhibited as part of the British Medals Society exhibition 2022
My recent work focuses on human interventions controlling nature and upon sea defences. The acceleration of coastal erosion and sea defence failure signals the decline of human control as climate change increases.

‘The sea is rising, and so should we.’
Her words have been the inspiration for this medal.

The design considerers the juxtaposition between the practice of FGM and the process of labiaplasty, (the creation of the designer vagina).
It has been shown where education is put in place for women, it leads to choice and decision-making, which frees the next generation from the ritual.

reminding us that natural forces constantly challenge human endeavour.Â
